The B-segment subcompact crossover SUVs, the Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, were created by Suzuki and are manufactured in India by Toyota as of 2022.

4. MAHINDRA THAR. (Rs.11.25 La)

The Thar was created to be an off-road vehicle capable of withstanding the difficult terrain present in many regions of India that is also dependable, economical, and tough. The renowned Jeep CJ series, which Mahindra has been manufacturing under license since the 1940s, served as the inspiration for its design. The Mahindra Thar, named after the Thar Desert, made its debut in 2010 as an upgraded version of the Mahindra Legend. The latter was built on the Mahindra MM540, a car that had been manufactured in India since the 1980s.

Mahindra & Mahindra, an Indian automaker, produces the tiny crossover SUV known as the Mahindra XUV700. The car is scheduled to be on sale in August 2021 and will take the place of the XUV500. India's Tata Motors Limited manufactures the five-seater Tata Harrier, a small crossover SUV with a diesel engine. It was introduced to the Indian market on January 23, 2019, and it sits in between the mid-size Tata Safari and the subcompact Tata Nexon. Indian automaker Tata Motors has been making the mid-size SUV known as the Safari since 1998
. The first-generation Safari was intended to be a large, seven-seater SUV with a third row that could be folded. It has positioned itself as a competitively priced alternative to off-road vehicles from other companies. In 2021, Safari was brought back. In contrast to its predecessor, the second-generation Safari is a monocoque crossover SUV with front-wheel drive that shares its foundation with the Tata Harrier.

The 2.0-liter Peugeot XD88 turbodiesel engine, which produces 64 kW (87 PS), powers the Safari. It is the same engine as powers the Tata Telcoline. A five-speed manual synchromesh gearbox with a 4WD option was included in the package. Tata Motors was awarded a contract in December 2016 to supply about 3,192 Safari Storms, which would replace the Maruti Gypsy as the official vehicle of the Indian Army. The Mahindra Scorpio posed a threat to the Tata Safari Storm, and both cars reportedly underwent extensive testing that included testing in marshy, high-terrain, and snowy conditions. The Storm met the Army's requirements for a hard top vehicle with air conditioning and a minimum payload of 800 kg by meeting the GS800 (General Service 800) vehicle classification.

The three-row Harrier version was first displayed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show under the Buzzard moniker and at the 2020 Auto Expo under the Gravitas brand. It was shown and made available with the Safari nameplate in January 2021. It has the same 2 liter, L4 turbocharged diesel engine as the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. There are two seat combinations available: six and seven. The six-seater option is exclusive to the top-spec XZ Plus. The XE was the base model when it was first released, while the other models in the range were the XM, XT, XT Plus, XZ, and XZ Plus. On October 6, 2023, the Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts were unveiled.

Kia produces a subcompact crossover SUV called the KIA Seltos. In Kia's worldwide SUV portfolio, the bigger Sportage sits above the smaller Stonic, Soul, or Sonet. The Seltos was introduced in the middle of 2019. The Greek mythological character Celtos, son of Hercules and Celtine, is the source of the name Seltos. Kia claims that millennials will be the target demographic for the Seltos.

Three distinct versions of the Seltos have been introduced for various markets, making it a designated worldwide product. The first variant, the biggest Seltos version, is produced in South Korea (SP2) and is primarily marketed to developed countries in North America and Australasia. The very comparable Chinese version, branded as the Kia KX3, and the Indian-made Seltos (SP2i) are the two other variants.
Constructed on the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform and closely linked to the second generation Hyundai Creta/ix25, the SP2i and SP2c models are the entry-level Seltos vehicles aimed at penetrating new countries. The Seltos is not available in the European market, despite being a model that is offered all over the world.
The Seltos began life as two concept vehicles: the SP Concept, which made its debut in February 2018 at the Auto Expo, and the SP Signature, which debuted in March 2019 at the Seoul Motor Show. The 1.5-liter U Line diesel engine generates 115 PS (85 kW, 113 bhp) and is mated to either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
